About a third of the way from Bora Bora to Roratonga we experienced an equipment problem that we felt should be fixed before getting to New Zealand. Looking at our alternatives we decided that returning to the boat repair yard in Raiatea was a better option than trying to find repair facilities in Roratonga, Niue, or Tonga. Unfortunately it meant bashing about 150 miles back east into 25 knot winds and some pretty big seas. It was a long two days, but here we are back in Raiatea, French Polynesia. We have to get some parts shipped in, so we will likely be here at least a couple of weeks.
